Blackfriars Priory Wedding

Blackfriars Priory is a hidden gem wedding venue. The Priory is truly one of a kind, following renovations the beautiful historic building has been retained and complimented with contemporary design with features such as a full glass wall overlooking the ancient ruin. The light that streams in through this window is so beautiful, in the day you get harsh light teemed with shadows giving your photographs an edgy look and then as the sun dips throughout the day the light becomes so dreamy and soft, it really is a photographers dream.

Blackfriars Priory use local apartments, The Judges Lodges, where you can stay the night before your wedding day and use for all your prep needs which is ideal and only a short taxi ride away.

The iconic nature of this venue really struck a chord with Ellie and Kris. Kris is in the military and the venue was the perfect backdrop for the uniforms worn by himself and his groomsmen. The ancient walls and the medieval feel about it perfectly accentuated Ellie and Kris’ wedding day. I’m all about vibrance and colour in my photography and the neutral backdrop and lighting that Blackfriars Priory provides was absolutely perfect.

Although Blackfriars Priory could be described as a little traditional, Ellie and Kris injected their laid back, fun personalities througout their day. With grazing boards for their wedding breakfast, no cake to cut and a full on party at the end it was a true joy to shoot.
